Join us in welcoming Washington Elementary back to the neighborhood at their ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, 8/24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 520 18th Street. National Night Out is Tuesday, August 2, and the Midtown Neighborhood Association invites you to celebrate with us! The Central City Neighborhoods Alliance, Sacramento Metro Cable 14, and the League of Women Voters of Sacramento County are co-sponsoring a Central City mayoral forum and inviting the public and media to attend. Mayoral candidates will discuss local government and issues related to the the Central City. The forum will be held May 7 at 11 a.m. at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors Chambers at 700 H Street, Room 1450. The City of Sacramento Neighborhood Services Division's annual Earth Day Celebration will take place Tuesday, April 19th at Cesar Chavez Plaza from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. This free event will highlight the need to reduce our carbon footprint on the earth. Learn more about recycling, composting, water conservation, electric vehicles and much more! There will be lots of activities for the kids at the Public Safety and Kids zones. This will be an exciting day because it will also be the first day of the expanded market. The Midtown Neighborhood Association and the Marshall School/New Era Neighborhood Association will also have a photo booth to capture your good times! Community providers who will join us include Sacramento Police Department, Front Street Animal Shelter, WEAVE, Washington Elementary, and the Sacramento Public Library, Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, City of Sacramento Neighborhood Services. This free, family-friendly market, located on 20th Street between J and L streets, takes place every Saturday, from 8am-1pm, year-round, rain or shine. The Midtown Farmers Market showcases local agriculture, prepared foods, artisans and crafters, while providing an opportunity for Midtown residents and business owners to discover regionally grown foods.
