If you like to walk and bike ride in midtown but wish you felt safer, you’re not alone! NBNA did a community survey recently and learned something important: While most of our neighbors love walking and biking (it’s why we live in midtown!), many feel unsafe riding their bikes or walking for fear of speeding cars. Sadly, they have reason to be afraid: Sacramento has more bike fatalities per capita than any other city in California and ranks in the nation’s top ten most dangerous cities for biking.
What can be done to change this?
Please join us on Wednesday, April 26th, from 6 – 8 PM, to hear from the city’s chief active transportation planner, traffic engineers, safe street advocates, and some of our neighbors about their experiences on midtown streets.
You’ll come away understanding the city’s next steps, knowing your neighbors a bit better, and zeroing in on what can be done to make Sacramento the great (and safe) biking and walking city it should be.
Speakers include Jennifer Donlon-Wyant, City of Sacramento Transportation Planning Manager, and Deb Banks, Executive Director of Sacramento Area Bicycle Coalition.
This event is free of charge and open to anyone. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Kids are not only welcome but encouraged to attend!
Please help us plan for who’s coming by RSVPing here: https://forms.gle/pa2G1rQYtkuP7E4KA
