SACRAMENTO (May 2, 2016) – The Central City Neighborhoods Alliance, Sacramento Metro Cable 14, and the League of Women Voters of Sacramento County are co-sponsoring a Central City mayoral forum and inviting the public and media to attend. Mayoral candidates will discuss local government and issues related to the the Central City. The forum will be held May 7 at 11 a.m. at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors Chambers at 700 H Street, Room 1450.
“Sacramento’s vision to be the most most livable city is admirable, and while we’ve made great strides in achieving that, we still have a lot of work ahead of us,” said Sean Manwaring of the Central City Neighborhoods Alliance. “Much of Sacramento’s Renaissance has been in the Central City, an area that faces its own unique challenges, and Sacramento’s next mayor will play a major role in the Central City’s future.”
Mayoral candidates Angelique Ashby, Michael Edwards, Tony “The Tiger” Lopez, and Darrell Steinberg will discuss topics related to ethics, transparency, homelessness, development and preservation, public safety and housing during the 90-minute forum. The League of Women Voters will moderate the event.
"The Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission and Metro Cable Channel 14 are excited to partner with the Central CityNeighborhoods Alliance and the League of Women Voters of Sacramento County on the forum,” said Metro Cable 14 Production Director Kristin Riggs. “It’s inspiring to see the energy, enthusiasm, and community involvement behind this event. Bringing government closer to the people is our goal, and we are pleased to play a part by broadcasting this important forum. If people miss the live forum, there will be plenty of replays,” Riggs added.
The Forum will be broadcast live on Metro Cable Channel 14; audio feed will be available to the media; video will be streamed on www.sacmetrocable.tv. The forum will be replayed at 9 a.m. each Sunday through June 5.
Election Day is Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
