Let’s be contagious like a baby’s laughter. I hope you will help us spread our joy and excitement during our infancy. |
Like every other person who’s ever lived, I’ve had my triumphs and tribulations. I’ve had moments of elation and times I thought my life couldn’t get any worse. But somehow, things always worked out—not always the way I wanted in that moment, but they worked out because I’m still alive and I’m happy. I’ve learned one thing I can always count on is that life constantly changes. Our bodies change with each year. Our priorities change with age, and even the natural world changes with each season.
I could tell my life story and all the things that I’ve done. But I did few of them alone. It’s only been with the help of others that I have the life that I do—a life for which I am immeasurably grateful. The partnership of my parents created me. The many friends, family members, mentors and other people who’ve crossed my path gave me guidance, support, and served as models of what I did or did not want to become. We can accomplish little without the help of others, and that’s made me realize the importance of creating healthy relationships—relationships rooted in respect, openness, communication and a willingness to learn and understand.
If someone had told me six months ago that I would be involved in civic activities, I would have laughed and said that I had no interest and explained that I wanted to live my quiet, drama-free life with the amazing people in it. But, unbeknownst to us, sometimes life has something else in mind, because here I am—involved in my neighborhood.
Hope is powerful. It’s hope that helps make dreams come true and brings positive change.
I have great hope that together our achievements will be limitless.
I hope we meet you.
I hope you will join us and share your strengths and talents with our community.
I hope you will share what is important to you.
I hope we can learn from you, and I hope you will be able to learn from us.
I hope that if we ever disagree, we do so with dignity, respect, and a willingness to understand the other.
I hope you will be our partner in creating a strong, vibrant community where everyone thrives.
Our newly resurrected neighborhood association is like a baby, and attitude is contagious. Let’s be contagious like a baby’s laughter. I hope you will help us spread our joy and excitement during our infancy.
