National Night Out is Tuesday, August 2, and the Midtown Neighborhood Association invites you to celebrate with us! We will host a neighborhood block party from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on 22nd St between Capitol Avenue and Matsui Alley. There will be food from neighbors (including Bombay Bar & Grill and Sac Natural Foods Co-op), drinks, a giant slip'n'slide, plus lots of fun and games!
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED TO MAKE THIS THING HAPPEN! If you can help distribute flyers, set up, clean up, or provide food, drinks, or games, please contact Jessica Sorensen to sign up to volunteer. Members of the Midtown Neighborhood Association who attend the block party will also receive a custom wrist band, good for one-night-only special offers at participating neighborhood bars and restaurants (so we can get our after-party on!), including... Happy Hour all night & $2 small plates at KUPROS CRAFTHOUSE Free pretzel with any purchase at DER BIERGARTEN Happy Hour all night & 25% food at GOLDEN BEAR AND MORE!!! Not a member? Sign up at the block party and get a special discounted rate of $10 membership dues. This event is sponsored by Sacramento City Councilmember Steve Hansen. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. By getting to know your neighbors, we can build a stronger Midtown that watches out for one another. We hope to meet you there! [Cats in Space Tour 2016]
Pick a side, Space Cats or Space Mice and use a space weapon to fight in the ultimate nocturnal showdown. Wednesday, May 4, join MNA, the Midtown Business Association and the Friends of Fremont Park for a massive space battle at Fremont Park in Midtown. One dollar from every sale will be donated to Make-A-Wish. Learn more on the Facebook events page, and click here to register. Midtown Neighborhood Association, in partnership with Midtown Business Association and Unseen Heroes will bring community partners together at the Midtown Farmers Market. This will be an exciting day because it will also be the first day of the expanded market. The Midtown Neighborhood Association and the Marshall School/New Era Neighborhood Association will also have a photo booth to capture your good times! Community providers who will join us include Sacramento Police Department, Front Street Animal Shelter, WEAVE, Washington Elementary, and the Sacramento Public Library, Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, City of Sacramento Neighborhood Services. This free, family-friendly market, located on 20th Street between J and L streets, takes place every Saturday, from 8am-1pm, year-round, rain or shine. The Midtown Farmers Market showcases local agriculture, prepared foods, artisans and crafters, while providing an opportunity for Midtown residents and business owners to discover regionally grown foods. Anchored in the heart of Midtown, the market serves as a lively and fun gathering place where Sacramentans can come together to shop and enjoy the community with neighbors and visitors alike. The following recipients received the Midtown Neighborhood Association’s 2016 Outstanding Community Partner Awards on January 13, 2016, for their commitment to and partnership with Midtown neighbors. Their involvement with the community was instrumental in leading to the reactivation of the Midtown Neighborhood Association.
