Cap  City  Corridor  Project

11/29/2016

Picture
State Route 51, commonly known as the Cap City Freeway, is operating beyond its designed capacity and is the most congested corridor in the greater Sacramento Region. The corridor operates at Level of Service "F." In 2011, the Cap City Freeway experienced over 950,000 annual hours of delay at a $16.7 million cost to users. In 2011, highway had five of the areas top 10 bottlenecks with backups often exceeding two miles in length. Conditions along the the Cap City Freeway are expected to further degrade by the year 2035 with traffic volumes forecasted to increase over 25 percent and congestion periods to increase by 50 percent.

Caltrans and its transportation partners are proposing improvements to the highway. You can learn more in the documents below. Midtown Neighborhood Association will update this page as we receive more information and as we schedule community meetings with the project team.
